The band is pleased to announce the creation of their new website. This, the fifth generation of the Edward’s Operation website, was created by the band’s manager Bill. Bill, who also serves as EO’s IT consultant, chauffeur, roadie, psychotherapist and general all-round Incredibly Helpful Guy, got the new site up and running in a mere three days. It’s quite a story, but we have it on good authority (cell-phone intercepts) that Chris and Bill’s interactions went something like this:
CHRIS: Oh, god, that guy who was supposed to be doing the website still hasn’t replied to me!
BILL: When did you last hear from him?
CHRIS: [Rummaging through old emails….] Woah, the last communication I had from him was May 2021; that’s over three years ago.
BILL: And when did he start building your website?
CHRIS: [Rummaging even further back through old emails…] Woah, November 2015 – Damn, that’s nine years ago! At the time, he said he could get the site finished in three months!
BILL: So in eight years, he could only finish this much?! [Bill indicates current state of website in serious state of incompletion.]
CHRIS: I’m afraid so. I like what he did, but I’d have liked it a lot more if he could have actually finished it.
BILL: You should have asked me. I could get your entire site finished in three days.
CHRIS: [Suspicious that this was more hyperbole than accurate assessment] Really?
BILL: Hell yeah!
CHRIS: [Still wary…..] OK, let’s give it a go, then.
Three days later….
CHRIS: Wow, Bill, that is amazing!
BILL: Of course, there are still a few things that need tweaking, but there you are: your basic site, with all your data uploaded, your news items, your galleries, your contact form, your music player… everything!
CHRIS: [Ecstatic beyond words] Thanks, man!! Truly you are an IT genius!
BILL: Aw, shucks, it was nothing. The real genius was in the data preparation. It was all so well prepared, all I had to do was chuck it all up.
CHRIS: [Blushing] Aw, shucks, Bill, you’re too kind… You can find our new website at…. oh, wait! You’re already here!
新ウェブサイト完成
バンドの新ウェブサイトの完成を発表できることを嬉しく思います。 Edward’s Operation Web にとって第5世代 となる新しいウェブサイトは、バンドのマネージャーのビルによって作成されました。またビルはEO の IT 担当コンサルタント、運転手、ローディー、心理セラピストでもあり、オールラウンドにサポートしてくれる、とびきり親切な友人で、わずか 3 日で新しいサイトを立ち上げてくれました。
長い話を要約すると…確かな筋からの情報として（携帯電話の傍受記錄)、クリスとビルのやり取りをご紹介すると…
クリス: やれやれ、ウェブサイトを制作を依頼した知人から、まだ返事がないんだよ…
ビル: 最後に彼から連絡があったのはいつ？
クリス: [古いメールをチェックして…］うわ、最後にメールを受け取ったのは2021年5月だ。3年は経ってるよ。
ビル: 彼、いつウェブサイトを作り始めたの?
クリス: [古いメールをさらに遡って…] 11 月 2015年11月！？ なんてこった、もう9年前じゃないか！ 3ヶ月でできるって言ってたのに！
ビル: えっ、8 年もかけてこれっぽっち？ [未完成のウェブサイトの惨状を示す]
クリス：残念ながらそのようだね。 彼のスタイルは好きだけど、ちゃんと完成することの方がよほど大事だからね。
ビル：オレに頼むべきだったね。 3日以内で完成させてみせるよ！
クリス: [それは大げさなんじゃないかと懐疑的に] マジで？
ビル：もちろんだぜ！
クリス: じゃ、お願いしようかな…
3日後。
クリス：マジですごいよ、ビル！
ビル: もちろん、まだ微調整が必要な箇所はあるけど、 これで基本的なサイトは完成よ。ニュース、ギャラリー、お問い合わせフォーム、音楽プレーヤー…データも全てアップロードしてある！
クリス: [言葉も出ないほど興奮] 本当にありがとう!! 君はIT の天才だよ！
ビル: こんなもん朝飯前よ！ 本当に大変な作業はデータの 準備なんだが、それはよくできてたからな。オレはちょっと組み立てただけだ。
クリス: [顔を赤らめて] ああ、ビル、君って本当にいいヤツだな…
